This year’s Investor Day felt like a real shift—one that reinforced Molten’s position as a leading European venture capital firm, backing the next generation of transformative technology companies.

Over 200 leadership, investment team, and portfolio companies discussed the future of venture capital, the role of AI, and how Molten is uniquely positioned to back Europe’s next generation of category-defining businesses.

Strategic Priorities with Ben Wilkinson, CEO

Ben’s first Investor Day as CEO set out five clear strategic priorities for Molten:

  • Focusing on our core business—backing high-growth potential companies at Series A & B.
  • Scaling with co-investment structures, particularly for later-stage growth (Series B) rounds.
  • Maintaining a selective Fund of Funds programme to generate insights across the ecosystem.
  • Preserving a strong balance sheet to remain active in the market.
  • Continuing to take decisive action on our discount to NAV, including an additional £15m buyback.

Realisations with Richard Marsh, Chief Portfolio Officer

Richard presented a session on exits and value creation and made one thing clear: Molten is leading the way in European VC realisations. Key takeaways included:

  • Over £220m of exit proceeds year-to-date, with Freetrade (subject to regulatory approval) and Ravelin (subject to completion conditions) due to close being the latest examples.
  • A consistent track record of delivering exits at NAV or higher, reinforcing confidence in the portfolio’s valuation approach.
  • Molten’s structured exit preparation process, ensuring we continue to push for strong outcomes for our portfolio companies and investors.

Portfolio companies leading the way

Ten of our portfolio companies – Form3, ICEYE, Riverlane, Freetrade, Altruistiq, causaLens, Mostly AI, Sightline Climate, Makers and Material Exchange – showcased the groundbreaking innovation happening across fintech, deeptech, enterprise AI, and sustainability.

Panel | Thematic Investing in the Age of AI

Moderated by Ryan Browne (CNBC), our Investment Team—Nicola McClafferty, Vinoth Jayakumar, Inga Deakin, Christoph Hornung, and George Chalmers—debated how AI is transforming industries, where the biggest opportunities lie, and how founders can best integrate the technology.

Portfolio Development with Andrea Kerwat

As Andrea highlighted, Molten is more than capital—we provide hands-on support to our founders from hiring senior talent to exit planning. Portfolio Development at Molten means:

  • Helping our companies build world-class teams—having supported dozens of portfolio companies through the years in building out their C-suite.
  • Accelerating go-to-market success through revenue operations best practices and strategic introductions to large enterprise accounts.
  • Translating funding plans into operational plans that focus on the right milestones while strengthening board composition and effectiveness. Exit preparedness—guiding our portfolio through the critical early steps of M&A planning.

Investor confidence and next steps

The day reinforced conviction in Molten’s long-term equity story—our access to a high-growth asset class, a portfolio of over 100 of the most innovative start-ups across Europe, and a clear strategy for the future.

With a strong realisation track record and a commitment to allocate further capital for share repurchases, this is an exciting moment for Molten. We will continue to take action—scaling through co-investment, supporting our founders, and ensuring we are positioned for long-term success.

A huge thank you to our investors, portfolio companies, and team for making the day such a success.
